About Kolkata Relief
Kolkata Relief is a nonprofit that follows the philosophy of Effective Altruism. Founded in 2017, the project provides basic shelter to vulnerable, homeless populations affected by the monsoon season in Kolkata, India. The initiative plans to grow to Bombay and Delhi. It’s a transparent NPO, and it delivers relief kits to entire families in need. So far, over 7,000 kits have been distributed.

Frightening Climate Change Statistics
In 2019, India experienced extreme weather conditions receiving the heaviest monsoon rainfall in 25 years.
High-impact climate change weather events have killed thousands of people, with collapsed homes and drowning being responsible for many of the deaths. Last year, heavy rains, floods, and thunderstorms displaced or injured at least 2.5 million people.
Those record-breaking incidents have caused unprecedented damage to property, impacting human and animal lives across most Indian districts. Just in Kolkata alone, there are currently almost 50,000 people who are homeless.
Be the Change You Wish To See
For every Amalia Home Collection product sold, you are directly contributing to this cause. A portion of sales goes to Kolkata Relief to support families living on the streets of the city.
With just €5 (approximately $5,59), you can help save an entire family from rain, malaria, dengue, wound infection, and even combat illiteracy.
The donations have a very real impact on people’s lives. The nonprofit’s volunteers go out to the homeless and provide them with critical relief kits. Besides the protective plastic, kits contain a mosquito net (which provides protection from parasites that transmit malaria, dengue, and other related diseases), a complete first aid kit, and a book with the basics of English, Bengali, Math, and Good Habits.
