1. Duvets and Pillows

The first step is to find the perfect duvet and the perfect pillows for your bed. Before starting with the extras and accessories, it’s important to think about the foundations. We don’t start a house by the roof.

Interior designers recommend that we replace our duvet after about 10 years of use. When it comes to choosing a suitable duvet for your king bed, you should consider if it is heated, and how warm or cold your partner feel in bed. All season duvets are the ideal scenario.

The perfect pillow should be soft enough to be comfortable but firm enough to give the appropriate support to your head, neck and shoulders. There is a simple test that you can do to know if it’s time to replace your pillow: just place it over your arm and if it droops, it’s time for a new one.

When it comes to pillow filling, there is no right answer or a perfect option that fits everybody. Your choice of filling will be determined by personal preferences. Although it’s something so personal, some interior designers claim that down fillings are the lightest and most comfortable to sleep under.

2. Thread count

Some interior designers also believe that it’s important to choose the right thread count for your bedding. Thread count measures the fineness of the fabric by counting the number of threads per square inch. In theory, the higher the thread count, the softer and higher-quality the sheets.

But the quality of the bed linen will also depend on the fineness of the yarn as well as the quality of the weaving and finishing processes. It’s more about quality than quantity.

3. Choosing the right material

When we talk about bedding, the most frequently used fibers are linen and cotton. These two materials have always been used, due their versatility. One of the main advantages of both fabrics is their ability to absorb moisture.

Each fiber brings its own natural beauty and attributes and, together, they are a winning combination. Cotton is resilient and soft to the touch, while linen is smooth and fluid. Both fabrics are very comfortable and breathable. If you are looking for high-quality bedding with the soft and smooth property of nature’s fibers, either one would be a great choice!

4. Luxury bedding

There are many reasons why you should choose a luxury bedding set, instead of a cheaper one. An investment in high quality bedding is an investment in better sleep. With the right bed linen, you’ll sleep, feel and look better. You can also look at it as a long time investment, because luxury bedding last longer.

Also in terms of decor, choosing luxury bedding will make an huge difference. The bed is one of the main focus of a bedroom, the central piece of it,  so a beautiful duvet cover, for example, can be like a piece of art or a special decor item that set the theme for the entire bedroom.

And remember that your bedding is against our skin every night, so it’s very important to think about the quality of the textiles.
