1. Acceptance

One of the main reasons why we can’t turn off our work thoughts it’s that stressful, consuming thought that there is work that need to be done, something we didn’t finished.

Do you know the words : “The truth will set you free”? The true is that we will never be able to go home from a clear desk. And to accept that, to accept that there will always be work undone at the end of the day, it’s the first step to allow yourself to relax.

2. Relaxation

It is a false and dangerous belief in our culture that we have to be near a collapse before we are entitled to relax. We shouldn’t need any justification for taking care of ourselves. Relaxation is essential to recover and restore the body and the brain’s equilibrium to pre-stressor levels.

When you get home from work you should dedicate at least 1 hour to do what you like to do to relax: go for a run, practice meditation, go to the gym, read a book, listen to music, watch a movie, spend quality time with the ones you love.

3. Humor

Don’t underestimate the power of humor. A lot of specialists consider humor as  one of the greater defenses against stress.

And the best part, is that it can be something so simple as to sit and watch a show of your favorite comedian or a good comedy movie. You can also go to a humor website, or just laugh with your friends and family.

4. Healthy lifestyle

We know how that diet, exercise and sleep habits affect our physical health, but we tend to underestimate the huge impact these factors have on our mental health.

By eating healthy food, implementing a regular workout schedule and organizing our sleep habits we can boost our ability to manage stress. These factors are also connected: regular exercise can help us to get a good night’s sleep and some foods contain sleep-promoting substance.

5. Decoration

This last tip might be the less obvious out of the five, but it’s very important. We should aim for a space that promotes stress and anxiety reduction and that feels like our sanctuary. Our room should be a place of calm, peace and comfort. We have to be very wise while choosing furniture, bedding sets and decor items.

Some colors have been proven by scientist to affect the autonomic nervous system. Proponents of color therapy believe that blue has a calming, relaxing effect. Improve your bedroom decor with our bedding
